Sailing with a Purpose
Author Last Post
I want to send a huge Thank You to Mike and Laural, Chris N, all the coaches, and all the sailing participants for making the Sailing with a Purpose series and big success.

I hope we can continue the Thursday Night races as we move into the summer months.  There is still a lot for all of us to learn as we go through the practice skills, races, and classroom sessions.

Commodore 2015, 2016

All here is a great Presentation  that Chris Nelson created for our class.  The first half is the part presented on March 24th, the second half will be presented tonight (April 7).  Look forward to seeing you all.

Hello Michael,

If it's possible, I would like to Crew on Chris Nelson's boat with Skipper Eric Bethal.

Thank you Michael,

Dee
Dee you are regular crew and always welcome on my boat but the purpose of the course is to expose students to a broader perspective, different boats, and different coaches.  I'm excited to race with you again  this weekend so you can share with us what you've gained from the class.  See you on foredeck!

Chris

Hi Mike -

So sorry, but my son Tyler and I will not be able to make this Thursday 3/24 in the classroom due to a church commitment (I was able to clear all the remaining Thursdays - just not this one). We have the right-of-way PDF but is there any other material we should study at home?

We'll see you next Thursday 3/31 for sure! Thanks.

Ok. Just FYI, my jib sheet and main sheet replaced today, and Jib issue was fixed.  Jib now goes all the way up to the top. It was only related to me know knowing which was the jib halyard, and now I do. :) lol.

Thank you Chris R. for all your help today with the fixes :).

Thanks for a great first day. And a huge thank you to the coaches and club members who are donating their time to put this together and are sharing their experience. This is going to be a valuable seminar.

Thank you to my great crew tonight Dee, Joan, Don, Paul, Jack. It was fun learning with you guys. And of course we couldn't have done it without Our coaches Jillian and Ben.

To be a confident sailor rather you are racing or just sailing through a crowded anchorage, you need to know the basic right of way rules.  Here is a great PDF

It looks like we have a great group of sailor coming out for Sailing with a Purpose/learn to race seminar.  It looks like we will have 5 or 6 boats and over 20 crew members and skippers.  There is still time to sign up.

If you are joining us for the session either as a participant or coach, please use the forum to communicate - love to hear your questions, thoughts on how we can improve or even things as small as that you can't make it this week.  We will post information to the forum for all to see.
